its been a while...

corp tri is coming up, and although my yr break is not really over yet, im doing the corp tri..... im kinda in a mixed state of mind, but when one does a race, one must prepare properly. no matter how much you dun really want to be there... So UR was kind enough to let me have a spin on his 303's and BOY!! was THAT FUN!!!i simply love those wheels.. i think UR does something to them, his 303's are always so fast!!! with those wheels, even a super-rusty-old me can still pass myself off like a halfway decent cyclist around Sengkang's empty roads. But i really enjoyed tonights solo ride. I rode around Sengkang's so-called ring road and then off to the empty roads around the Sengkang LRT. The 3km stretch is really cool - quiet, no cars, and straight. i jus kept going round and round and suddenly i had 25km on my speedo!!

Anyway, since i only wanted to do a 30min spin, i took my last round and stopped at the Swimming Pool to take a look at it. Damn, its BIG!!! two Olympic size pools and two fun poole with slide and fountain and all. Gym is quite large and they have the usual Yoga and Badminton etc....

But yeah, i reached home and i jus had to sit down and look at the bike. I havent had it out of the store room for a v v long time. im surprised everything is still working to be quite honest. gears are all in tact and cables havent rusted. The seat and handlebar tape are still damaged from last yr when i stashed it away in my storeroom, but other than that... its still as fast as it was.

And so i guess.. its jus like that... i rode again - jus had to say it.

teamNUS nite 2008 - A tribute to our capt Prof Shih

last night CAF and i headed back to NUS to attend the annual teamNUS night where athletes are recognised for their contributions to the NUS Sport Scene. and as usual, the Biathlon team was on top again! so many individual award winners (Rookie Award, Honary Member Award, Team Player Award), Sportsmand and Woman, Sports Team Event of the Year and of course the President Sports Award (indivdual) =) As a former member of that team.. i cldnt have felt more proud of those guys and girls. Mok and Dinah took Sportsmand and Woman and Sunny took the President Award. I was quite touched when he mentioned me in my speech - i didnt think that me standing up there receiving my President Award 3 yrs ago meant anything to anyone except myself (and perhaps my mum =)) but its nice to know that it left an impression on someone =) Thanks Sunny =)

So this evening was a little bit different from the normal sport awards as it was Prof Shih's last Awards Ceremony before he leaves on his new adventure to the Middle East. So OSA/SRC organised a lilttle tribute for him. A lovely girl named Michelle sang a song for him and all the past award winners came on the stage to wish Prof Shih well and also present him with a farewell gift. It was a very touching moment. After we had presented him with the gifts, he stood around on the stage jus taking in the atmosphere. Everyone was standing and applauding and if i was him, id burst into tears.. He looked very happy and even a small tear to his eye =)

Although i have graduated a while ago, i always go back to attend these award ceremonies coz.. i dunno, i guess i jus felt so proud to be part of that Biathlon Team last time when i was still and Undergrad that i jus go back to soak up that vibe again and feel alive again. But this time, i went back coz its Prof Shih's last ceremony and i wanted to thank him personally for having that kind of effect on my sporting life. To have a figure like him or of his status (NUS PRESIDENT!!!) to come on stage every year to me shows how much he supports sports although probably does bit have time for sports himself. He believes that spors moulds a person for greater things - installs discipline and teaches you how to win and lose; Makes you a better person. And to hear words like that come from his mouth to me really strikes a chord. Its ok for you to have passion beyond your wildest dreams to excel in sports and to make big sacrifices for it, but having someone stand behind you just gives you that 10% more you need to be better than the rest. I can still recall the day when he presented me with his very first President Award. I was so touched i screwed up my speech coz of the tears that kept coming to me. But he later gave me a pat on the back and said well done - this is why you do what you do.

Thanks Prof Shih for being our leader. You have a great team of Staff and Athletes and together, we will achieve greater and higher heights because of your leadership!
Thanks and all the best in the Middle East!!

BALI!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh mann... its overrrrrr.... =(

But wah, it was a nice trip. I can truely say i have been fully recharged. we flew off Thursday morning and came back Sunday evening. Everything was great - the hotel was great, my pool was SUPER FUN!!! my jacoozi was dammmmnnnnn nice, i had flowers al the way (in the jacoozi)... and the room really look like the pictures..
Beach was fun, shoppng was kinda cool (it always is...) and food was NICE!!! i had the yummiest satay EVA!! and of course the beautiful weather and e's very private and nice wedding =)

So Thursday we arrived at the hotel - it was kinda slammed onto a hill side - so u had to climb a few steep hills to get there. So after we checked in, we  went to our room and jumped into the pool!!! wah.. DAMN FUN!! weather was so nice that we stayed in there for a good.. well.. 4-5 hrs?? i we jumped in at about 12, and only made it out when it was around dinner time. So then we made our way down to the nearest town to get some food and a massage =) i swear, i will nvr bargain again at the massage places - u nvr know how they will make u pay.. ouch..

And after that massage and our huge dinner... we came back and jumped right back into that pool. being as my hotel was kinda in the middle of no-where, slammed into the sid eof a hill, it was very quiet and the sky was so clear. CAF and I gazed up at the sky for a long while, looking at the stars and that planet. the water was surprisingly wwarm and while CAF sipped his Bintang beer and me munched on my mangos... it was a real pleasant eveninng. The candles and the dark warm lights... so lomantic =) The hotel was perfect i suppose.. so perfect that u cld forget that u were slappned on the side of a moutain and the closest house or anything that resembles civilisation was about 3km away, over 2 steep climbs. But man, i wld SOOOo not pay to stay there.. its nice, but jus out of my budget.

Friday we went down to Kuta Beach =) H and LSS joined us later for tanning/surfing/sleeping... everything. the boys were in the water all day - H on the surf board and CAF on the other board... bugie board? dunno wat its called... but learning from Phuket last time, i didnt plonk myself directly in the sun but kinda under a tree.. so niceeeeeeee...
